Murray Cox
Our managing director is something of a digital media veteran having first started working on the web for the launch of Ninemsn in Australia all the way back in 1998. And it was love at first sight…
Before discovering the internet Murray had worked as a newspaper reporter and radio journalist in his native Scotland. In fact, at the first paper he worked for as a cub in the early 90s he wrote his stories on an old fashioned typewriter.
Now he prefers to spend his time at the cutting edge of technology – not because he’s a techhead, but because he is excited about what it can do for us and the opportunities it creates in both people’s personal and professional lives.
Murray has worked for BBC News Online in the UK, Special Broadcasting Service in Australia and Australian Associated Press (AAP). At each of these news organisations he helped them make the internet an integral part of the fabric of what they do on a day-to-day basis.
His background as a journalist means Murray is excited by content, but like any good MBA graduate he loves to think and act strategically. Organisational change and development set his pulse racing and he loves a good ROI.
Getting major traditional media companies to put the internet at the core of their operations was exactly the type of organisation development and cultural change project that Murray both loves and excels at.
Since leaving sunny Sydney in August 2008 in search of adventure in the old country, Murray has been working as a social media consultant and trainer. He also lectures at Edinburgh Napier University.
